Role Summary

South Devon Satellite Kidney Unit (SDSKU)  is looking for an enthusiastic Band 2 Ward Clerk to provide excellent service to Patients and Visitors to the Unit. SDSKU is part of RDUH but situated in Torquay on a dedicated site. The Unit provides dialysis for up to 72 patients a day and also runs Outpatient services. There is a fantastic Clinical Team who care for patients six days a week and we are looking for someone who can join the Ward Clerk team to provide administration support. The role is varied and not a typical Ward Clerk role.

To succeed in the role, you will need to be able to work in a busy environment, be organised, have great communication skills and liaise with multiple transport agencies to ensure that Patients arrive and leave the unit in a timely manner.

The ward clerk role in Renal is a dynamic role covering several different areas of cross-cover for role variety and experience gained. This ward clerk role is based in the Wonford site supporting acute haemodialysis, Renal Day case and the Renal acute ward, but also has expectations to cover Renal satellite dialysis unit in Heavitree hospital. Full training is provided for the different areas and ongoing support from your line manager and renal ward clerk colleagues.

The role consists but is not limited to the following roles and duties: welcoming patients and visitors to the departmental area, booking dialysis patients into their treatment slot, recording key patient and medical information requested, signposting any patients for their outpatient appointment to the correct location, coordinating transport for our dialysis patients, answering the telephone, and involved in collecting data for audits.


Working Pattern: 22.5 hours per week. 3 days per week 07:30-15:30 between Monday and Friday
